"We are looking for a cognitive or computational neuroscientist with a background in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to work on the development of fMRI-based neurofeedback as a treatment for substance use disorders. The successful applicant will have a PhD or industrial experience in a relevant discipline, proven experience in fMRI and the neuroscience of motivation and behaviour change. A thorough understanding of the needs of clinical trials and clinical governance is also crucial. Further training will be available in real-time fMRI and psychometric assessment of addiction. CUBRIC is one of the world's leading neuroimaging centres, and our group is at the forefront of the development of neurofeedback techniques for the treatment and rehabilitation of mental and neurological disorders.

The post-holder will be part of an enthusiastic team of researchers from several academic and industrial partners in the BRAINTRAIN consortium, which is funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission. Ample opportunity for professional development, for example through regular retreats and conference attendance, will be provided. Cardiff University has a vibrant neuroscience community and has recently established a Neuroscience and Mental Health Research Institute. The facilities at CUBRIC include 3 and 7 Tesla MRI, MEG, EEG and TMS.

The position is full time (35 hours) and fixed term until 31 October 2017, starting 1 August 2015 or soon thereafter.

Salary: £31,342 - £37,394 (Grade 6) but please note that it is anticipated a maximum starting salary for this post will be £33,242 per annum.
